WAZ errors
How I mentioned in the section Introduction did not succeed to convince the WAZ Committee to the release of the new official map of zones, to intend to the map from year 1947 the honorable place in the museum-showcase. A consequence are this divergences between official Rules (the zoning) and their graphic representation on the old map. The separate group compose errors, which are resulting from the incorrect lay-out of original Zones borders. Below talked over all errors and out-of-date elements:
The additionally such course of the border disturbs the partition of continents between Europe and Asia, which (in spite of variances on other sections) in this part univocally runs along slopes of the mountain range of Ural Mountains. The correct – compatible with the list of Zones – course of the border of Zones 16 and 17 shows the present fragment of the map:
In the reality in this area are found 2 greater islands: Vize and Ushakov. They compose administratively the part of the Autonomous Okrug Taymyr, and this Okrug (UA0B) in accordance with Rules belongs to the Zone 18; while the Zone 17 does not reach to North Pole. Thus the correct demarcation of zones 17 and 18 looks as follows:
This is the remainder from times, when these islands were the part of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands under the UN supervision – administered by USA. Formed it present Marshall Islands (V7), Federated States of Micronesia (V6), Northern Mariana Islands (KH0) and Palau (T8), while the line demarcating Zones could run for several atolls into this or into that way, without greater consequences. The correct course of the border shows the mentioned below fragment of the map:
According to the contemporary legal status (year 1947) – the territorial adherence of these areas to Japan – the borderline of the Zone 25 runs cutting off the part of territories of Russia. The actual status went to the change in the year 1945, and became formaly ordered in the year 1951 on the Conference in San Francisco, across the acknowledgement of these areas to Russia (at that time to Soviet Union). The pending problem – exclusively in bilateral relations and not internationally - there remaining only the matter of 4 islands in South Kuril Islands: Shikotan, Habomai, Iturup and Kunashir. In spite of the lasting contestation is not questioned fact (also by DXCC) that these islands are found under the administration of Russia.
